This complex maxillary restorative rehabilitation combined endodontic and restorative treatment according to the individual requirements of the involved teeth.

Root canal treatment was completed for teeth requiring endodontic care.

Selected root-filled teeth were restored with cast post-and-core restorations to provide foundations for their definitive restorations.

Preparation and restoration design were individualised according to the condition, remaining tooth structure and functional requirements of each tooth.

Definitive crowns and bridgework were subsequently delivered to complete the maxillary rehabilitation.

The assessment, treatment planning, root canal treatment, cast post-and-core restorations, tooth preparations and delivery of the definitive crowns and bridgework were completed by Dr Behzad Fazlali.

Root canal treatment, post-and-core restorations, crowns and bridgework are individually planned according to the clinical condition and structural requirements of each tooth.

Root canal treatment does not guarantee the long-term retention of a tooth. Potential complications may include postoperative discomfort, persistent or recurrent infection, procedural complications, incomplete healing and the need for further treatment or retreatment.

Potential post-and-core complications may include loss of retention, fracture of the post or core, root fracture and complications affecting the remaining tooth structure.

Potential crown-and-bridge complications may include sensitivity or pulpal complications affecting supporting teeth, recurrent decay, gingival or periodontal changes, loss of retention, chipping, fracture or wear, and complications affecting bridge-supporting teeth.

Ongoing review, oral hygiene, adjustment, maintenance, repair, retreatment or replacement may be required.
